Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Roast2Learn (the "Service"), operated by an individual ("Roast2Learn", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Roast2Learn is an AI-powered study tool. You upload study material and the Service generates summaries, flashcards, quizzes, tutor chats, problem walkthroughs, exam predictions, and similar study aids. Features may change, improve, or be removed over time.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for all activity under your account.

4. Subscriptions and billing

  • The Service offers a free tier and paid plans (Pro and Beast). Prices are shown on our Pricing page.
  • Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (for example, monthly) through Stripe until cancelled.
  • By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method on each renewal.
  • We may change prices with reasonable advance notice; changes apply to future billing periods.
  • You are responsible for any applicable taxes.

5. Cancellations and refunds

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal or to infringe others' rights.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to upload, or that is unlawful, harmful, or abusive.
  • Attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, scrape, or bypass limits or security of the Service.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
  • Use the Service to cheat in violation of your school's academic integrity rules. The Service is a study aid; you are responsible for how you use its outputs.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the material you upload. You grant us a limited license to store and process that material solely to operate the Service and provide features to you (including sending it to our AI provider to generate outputs). You are responsible for the material you upload and confirm you have the right to upload it. Do not upload highly sensitive personal data you are not permitted to share.

8. AI-generated content

AI outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete, or occasionally wrong. The Service is for educational purposes only and is not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice. Always verify important information against authoritative sources. You use AI outputs at your own discretion.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its branding, design, and code, is owned by us and protected by law. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties (including Supabase, OpenAI, Stripe, and Vercel). We are not responsible for the availability or actions of these third parties.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that outputs will be accurate.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service and its users.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law
